AKwan’s Kitchen: How To Make Tomato Beef

Sorry for the long wait, but we’re back with a new video! This week, AKwan’s master chef visits his kitchen and shows him (and you) how to make delicious tomato beef. Watch to see who the master chef is and what happens!

Outtakes and behind-the-scenes:

Ingredients:
– 1 large or 2 small tomatoes, cut into wedges
– 1/2 large onion, sliced
– 1 green pepper, sliced
– 2 tbsp black beans, soaked in water and then diced
– 1/2 ginger root, sliced
– 2-3 scallion stalks, diced
– 1 lb. beef (flank steak), sliced against the grain
– salt
– soy sauce
– corn starch

Instructions:
1.) Heat up about 1 tbsp of oil in a pan.
2.) Add beef into pan and stir-fry until about half done; remove beef from heat.
3.) Add about another 2 tbsp of oil into pan again and add in ginger.
4.) When ginger becomes fragrant, add in onions; stir-fry until translucent.
5.) Add green peppers and 1/2 the black beans in.
6.) When vegetables are almost done, add the beef back in, along with the tomatoes and the rest of the black beans.
7.) When the beef is almost fully done, add some water into the pan and cover to cook for a bit.
8.) Mix about 1 tbsp of cornstarch with 2 tbsp of water in a bowl.
9.) After about a minute or two, pour cornstarch/water mixture into center of pan while stirring; mix thoroughly.
10.) Now add some salt and soy sauce to taste.
11.) When done, top with scallions on top. Then serve. Nom nom nom!
