In this week’s episode, we teach you how to make a Japanese-inspired braised salmon dish. Mmm yum!
Full written recipe, outtakes, and behind-the-scenes video after the jump.
Outtakes and behind-the-scenes:
– salmon filet
– 2 tbsp sake
– 2 tbsp mirin
– 1/4 cup Japanese soy sauce
– 1-inch piece of ginger root (sliced)
1.) Add about 1/2 cup of water into a saucepan and let it boil.
2.) Add soy sauce, sake, mirin, and ginger slices into boiling water; bring to boil again.
3.) Gently add salmon in.
4.) With a spoon, start scooping some of the liquid in the pan on the top of the salmon.
5.) When the bottom side is done, flip the salmon over and repeat step 4 with the other side.
6.) When the other side is done too, remove salmon from pan.
7.) For the sauce, let the liquids in the pan reduce down until it becomes a thick syrupy consistency.
8.) Pour sauce over salmon to serve.
9.) Enjoy. Mmm nom nom nom!
