At some point in our life, we all had an instant photo (Polaroid™) taken of us . Well for this week, how do we replicate that effect with Photoshop?

The steps to digitize your photos like a Polaroid™:

1. Open photo in Photoshop.
2. Add a frame:
a) Image -> Canvas Size
b) Change the Width and Height both to 110 percent

2. Add a frame.

3. Make the frame look more like Polaroid
a) Image -> Canvas Size
b) Change the Height to 120 percent
c) Click the up anchor arrow (just like screenshot)

3. Make the frame look more like Polaroid.

4. Double Click on the lock icon, to make a new layer (or to unlock).
5. Use the rectangle marquee tool and cut the polaroid out of your photo, and right click and select layer via copy
5. Polaroid Time
6. Select the new layer, and go to blending options.
a. check Drop shadow and adjust
  • angle = 120
  • Distance = 2px
  • Spread = 2%
  • Size = 24px
b. Select Gradient Overlay
  • Opacity = 3
7. Uncheck Layer 0.
8 Put in your font and voila.
